Custom Wedding Song

Shannon loved popular YouTubes where the couple dances down the aisle or the dance teacher proposes with the help of his students doing a flash mob dance. When it was time to plan Shannon's wedding, I wanted to incorporate an over-the-top surprise that I knew she would love. I was inspired to take Bruno Mars' beautiful song "Marry You" and rewrite  the lyrics just for Shannon and her husband Kurt. Once complete with the lyrics, I commissioned a singer with an absolutely stunning voice to create a professional quality track to play at the wedding.  The song was funny, sentimental, touching, and most of all completely unique to them. I will never forget the tears brought to Shannon's eyes, Kurt's huge smile, how Shannon's dad practically knocked me over with such a huge hug, and how people commented on it and asked me to send them copies. It was so touching to the couple, their guests and me.

A pregnancy surprise

When my husband and I were first dating, we used to frequent a local dueling piano bar. Hanging out there was so much fun, the type of place where you are singing along with the rest of the bar and cheering the talented pianists who are somehow pulling off pop songs on the piano. One night we were there and they started to play Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On' and it was a really awkward and funny moment since we were first dating. It has remained an inside joke for us ever since. Sean always wanted to be a father. It took me years to be ready to make that leap. When it finally came time to tell Sean that he was going to be a dad, we went to that same piano bar. They pulled us on stage and the pianist said he heard we used to go there a lot and had a special song. He began playing "Let's Get It On" and we danced with the whole bar watching. Then the pianist said "you know what too much of that leads to" and then he broke into Justin Beiber's "Baby." So we were standing there with "baby, baby, baby, oh!" in the background. Our friends then held up a sign reading "Congrats Sean, You're Going to be a Dad!" That's when he turned and looked at me with this face. I am so glad it was captured on camera. In Sean's own words:  "When I found out that my daughter was going to be born it was the most elaborate surprise and made the announcement that much more special."

A perfect gift

As the first birthday of her daughter was approaching Stephanie was contemplating the theme of a birthday party she might throw. She casually mentioned a theme from the movie "Up" because of how amazing the first 10 minutes of the movie are. She ended up making alternate plans for the birthday, but her mention of "Up" stuck with me. I wanted to give her daughter something unique and something classically "little girl." The thought of a doll house came to me and so I decided to make her daughter a custom doll house replica of the "Up" house. It was such a fun challenge painting all of the little pieces, assembling them and doing touch ups before finally being able to attach balloons to the top and head to surprise mother and daughter on the first birthday. Here's what she had to say "Azure is amazing! She listens to what you envision and then takes it up to a level you could not imagine on your own. My daughter's 1st birthday was a doll house but Azure recalled me mentioning that I would love to have a Disney "Up" theme birthday and she recreated the house from the movie!  My daughter and I will treasure it forever! I am so grateful for making her birthday so special. Thank you!"

Surprise baby

As a true surprise enthusiast, I had to keep the gender of my baby a surprise. I couldn't imagine a more ultimate surprise than the doctor holding her up and saying "It's a Girl!" And as I imagined, it was an amazing surprise especially after many months of build up. Needless to say, keeping the gender surprise drove our friends and families (and even us) crazy, the anticipation was almost too much.  When she was finally born, we decided to do a surprise-related baby announcement so she could make her grand debut to the world!

Baby's first

I love the traditional crocheted item for a new baby, you just don't see it that often anymore. My take on the traditional crocheted blanket is a hand-made crocheted stuffie of the baby's first <fill in the blank.> My First items I have made include guitars, footballs, basketballs, baseballs, soccer balls, golf clubs, skateboards, surfboards, stethoscopes and culturally significant items. It is such a unique gift that will be awed over at the shower and cherished by the baby and family for years to come.
